Getting Rid Of Bubbles On Your Floors

Formation of bubbles is often seen in epoxy floors. Bubbles are usually observed to be the size of a pinhead or more than an inch in diameter. They are found in the entire floor or as a group. "Out gasing" phenomenon is what usually causes this. The time when this occurs is when our epoxy paint starts to dry. Because the temperature rises, air is hotter and it expands into a bubble under the epoxy coating.

Use application primer as a tool that can help to prevent bubbles. Make sure that you do not apply epoxy coating where there is direct sunlight and it would be good to use a drill with slower speed to mix the coating.

When a roller is used to apply the coating, it is better to use a medium roller. Use gentle and slow motions when you are applying your epoxy paint. It is another thing that can help with bubbles that can appear on our garage floor.

All those bubbles that are formed on the coating are removable with some sandpaper or a rotary scrubber. First roughen the bubbled area with the sandpaper. Then get on to some serious dust cleaning work. Use a rag dipped in solvent to clean the area you worked on. Apply another coating of epoxy when you are finished with this. One more bubble type is fisheyes. One of the reasons is the silicone that remained on the surface.

Use sandpaper of medium grit to clean this area in entirety. When you are finished with this, you can clean the entire place with solvent dipped rag. After this a fresh coating may be applied.

If there are bubbles in the entire epoxy flooring area then shot blasting or sand blasting may be considered. First remove the epoxy coating by sand blasting the entire area. You also need to clean the entire area with an acid. You can isolate the entire area, in case it is rather small. Repair the area and then apply the coating again.

Another cause of formation of bubbles in epoxy garage flooring is excessive moisture. To verify this break one of the blisters thus formed and see if there is any moisture inside.
