This whole year, we have gone through so much. Our house has been greatly affected by the disastrous climate conditions. After having fixed the roof and the ceiling in the bedroom, another storm came. It was raining ice.
This winter, a lot of ice has mounted up on our roof. The water started to pool inside the roof, as the ice began to melt bit by bit. It dripped down the wall and destroyed the kitchen floor.
Therefore, we weighed all our alternatives. What kind of look did we want for our kitchen floor? Is it laminated, linoleum, vinyl, tile or wood? We reviewed their disparities and chose ceramic tiles as the best. Vinyl floors are made of chlorinated petrochemicals, linoleum are from raw and natural ingredients, while tile is remarkably stain and water resistant that makes it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms. Clay, marble, slate, glass or flint are the materials used for making ceramic tiles. We want our floors to be made of wood, however, our kitchen gets occupied frequently by us than any other room in the house, so tiles it is. We were never disappointed with our choice. Not only does it look great, it is sturdy, long-lasting and very easy to maintain.
Your tile floor will go on for many years when it is kept clean always. A simple mop and a good cleanser will do. We use floor cleansers that are not environment-hazard. Abrasive cleansers, brushes or scouring pads can produce scuff marks on the tile floor, so remember not to use any of it. Over a period of time, the color of the grout in between the tiles will fade away when bleach is applied often. Shun away from use. If you want, you can put a seal or glaze on your new ceramic floor. I use the wax because it is easy to maintain.
Clean your floor regularly to keep dirt from building up. Sweep or use a vacuum (one without the beater bars because it will scratch the tile), and damp mop in between thorough cleaning, don't use ammonia based products on glazed tile, mop up spills as soon as they happen to prevent staining, and place mats at the entry ways to catch dust and dirt.
I like the feeling of tiles under my feet. I walk barefooted inside the house most of the time, even in the winter. Tiles feel cold in the summer and warm during winters. Cleaning it is easy, its designs are very beautiful and the tiles itself are enduring. It's the perfect floor!
